Hello Guys,

I was wondering if you could help with a question about one of my work colleague's car...

She has a Grande Punto 1.4 with the Dualogic gearbox. Currently the car is showing the message "Manual Mode Unavailable" and is stuck in first gear when idle.

The car changes up from first gear when moving, but fails to select neutral or reverse when stationary.

Anyone know what could be wrong?

probably system is messed up. only way to cure it is to replace the whole system

I have the same error message. Try to change the brake switch. I changed mine and the error message has reduced.
For my case, when I was in manual mode, sometimes it will pop the "manual mode unavaliable" message. And it will go to AUTO mode and the gear will perform just like normal AUTO mode. I can still go to reverse.

I noticed the problem could be due to the contact point below the gear stick. (Gear shifter) When I change gear in manual mode and tap it a little hard, the problem seldom occur.
