After driving home in my fiat punto today, when closing the drivers window the window would not go up. The two front windows are electronic and the passenger side works fine however when i try and put the drivers window up it makes a horrid crunching noise and doesn't move. I've had to try and pull the window up but it wont go any further than half way.

Has this happened to anybody else? Any advice would be appreciated

Take the door card off and have a look, check the guides on either drivers door lock or changing front speakers, these will show you all the screw locations. When I changed my drivers door lock, there is a bit of plastic that sits inside the door (for reasons unknown to me) which is held in place with 2 serrated flange nuts. Mine was missing a nut and the remaining one was almost off, if that had come completely loose I'm sure it could have interfered with the operation of the window. This is just a guess though!
Door card comes off in about 5 minutes max, got to be worth a look.

Cheers

Ben

Sounds to me like the window regulator cable has broken, dead easy to replace if it is, just take off the door panel and a few nuts and a clip later it's out! Hope this is of some help

I agree with John 76. My Panda did similar with the same horrid noises. For once I had an extended warranty that covered them both. You can get the parts on the net for about £40 and as already said it is not a difficult job if you take it steady and exercise patience!!

Good luck

My drives side door electric window has broken. I took the door panel off and the metal wire inside is messed up. Is this easy to fix

Thanks
Scott
