Hi,

My 06 grande punto makes a clunking noise when changing gears particularly in low gears and moving slowly and also when i take my foot off of the accelerator or sometimes the brake. I've googled it and i've seen alot about the gearbox mount. Does that sound like what it could be? Sometimes the clunking is quite loud but its quiet sometimes too but its scaring me and i cant get to a garage for a few days

i have the same problem but mine is less noise and more vehicle jolting

Mine does the same does anyone know what it is at all when mine is in automatic mode it jolts.

what grande puntos have you guys got? mines a 1.4 16v (6 speed) with the double part gearbox mount

There are three engine mounts in total.

•Belt side (engine)
•One battery side (gearbox)
•One under gearbox

Most of the time it's the one under gearbox.

Mine is a 1.4 07 plate and it's semi automatic but yesterday it dident wonna do anything on the dash it come up with cheak transmission but I don't understand what might be wrong.

Just had my rear gearbox mount replaced and jolting seems to have improved, i had a look at the old mount and it was far more flexible and had a large crack across on side of the rubber

Hi Sam - what did it cost to replace the gearbox mount? Or can anyone else say what the usual price would be?

around £45 for both parts of the mount, and £10 to fit.
