Hi Folks,

Recently bought myself a 57 plate 1.4 T-jet and since then I've been reading around about what upgrades I can get to improve the power etc. Think my first upgrade will be to get it onto some Eibach sportline springs but engine wise I'm unsure where to start really so looking for advice. Read about potentially upgrading the turbo to a VL36 from the abarth (found a website where i can get a new one for about £400), is the increase in performance worth the cost involved? If I'm upgrading the turbo do i need/is it worthwhile to upgrade the intercooler? Will a GSR induction kit provide a worthwhile performance increase?

Also been told my back box is starting to corrode so at some point I'll probably look into a custom stainless steel exhaust.

Would really appreciate your advice on what to get done and in what order etc.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

The turbo is the first thing to change as the standard one is very small and can't maintain boost pressures at high engine speeds. Once you've swapped the turbo you'll want a re-map and should get from 150bhp to 165bhp depending how aggressive the map is.

Hi mate, thanks for the advice. I've heard good things about the VL36, is that the one that most people switch to? And do you reckon I'm ok using the stock intercooler with the new turbo?
