Hi All,

Was wondering if some fellow grande owners could help me, started the car this morning and it immediately said gear unavailable (no warning lights) so I left for 10 mins and came back and all was well. However after about 25 mins of driving at about 40 mph I tried to kickdown and it just came out of gear and then re-engaged 5th. Then on my way home it happened again but this time the engine needed a restart to get it working again. After this the car drove fine all the way home (45 mins at varied speeds) each time I had no warning lights and the gear unavailable message only came on when I started the car in the morning, the other times it simply dropped out of gear without any errors... If it helps it is a 56 plate 1.4 Dynamique 3dr with 40k miles.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!

I have grande 06 Dualogic 68k km on it, I had the "gear unavailable " errors in the mornings and had to wait 30 sec before changing gear, I got new Accumulator and now I can drive immediately after startup, the Dualogic performers much better now.

how is your Hydraulic pump? its the original or you have changed it?
I did replaced the carbon brushes 2 years ago on mine pump (done myself - 2h work max, costs~5$).

Hi Grande2007, thanks for the reply. I will look into the accumulator, is this a part you can replace yourself? As far as the pump goes I think it is the original however I have only had the car for two weeks so I cannot be sure. It sounds healthy when opening the drivers door however.

Before touching the hydraulic system you must depressurize it!, it can be done via diagnostic software or by leaving it off with the pump unplug for 48 hours to be safe (some say 24 enough) wait 4 other to help about it.

search for this part in Alfa owners forum with selespeed.

About the pump- I have done detailed guide in other language - I don't know if it helps but you can have a look :)

It can help you if someday the pump will fail.
