Hi, recently got myself a 57 plate fiat gp tjet in red. It's had a front end bump so only paid £700 for it.
It's done 64k miles. Anyway thought I would start a build or rebuild thread.

So far got every thing apart from complete front bumper, head lamps front n/s abs sensor and 1 standard 17 inch fiat wheel.

Parts got are:
Air con rad
Coolant rad with fan assembly
Slam panel
Rads support panel (don't know the name)
Bumper support with bonnet catch
Intercooler
Both front seat belts as the pre tensioners had gone off on mine.
Aerial as someone ripped the other off by the looks.

Paid £250 for all that which wasn't bad considering fiat wanted over £2500.

Anyway I've just bought myself a full service kit inluding the timing belt and tensioner, water pump and engine locking timing kit.

This is what the car looked like when I got it (top left picture)

Since then I've put the rads and intercooler in the support panel and did bolt it all together to run the car and see what the engine was like.
Engine sounded great and turbo boosted fine.

heres a vid

This is what it looked like at that point (top right picture)

Since then I've removed the front end and all boost and coolant pipes and have order new pipes from forge but gotta wait 5 weeks as I want them in red.

The car also lost the ability to talk through the blue & me, but I've managed to update the system and it is now fluent in the English language lol.

I've also bought a full diagnostic cable set to read all the different ecu's in the car using multiecuscan.

Pictures not working !

I paid more than that for a full service/small repairs when I got my GP haha :p
I really can't understand why crashed cars (even just with a bumper crash like this) are so cheap in UK.

btw... airbags not fired ? lucky you ;)

I think the pictures are working now just had to alter the page layout as I couldn't get it the way I wanted it.

yeah the only things that fired were the both seat belt pretensioners so yh guess it was lucky.

Can anyone tell me which car this turbo is off and if it's the better one to have or not thanks

Hehe that's the price of the turbo alone lolol

Right this is where I'm at, engine all locked with timing kit, belt and pump off, check inside the cylinders and pistons 2 and 3 look like they have been burning alot of oil, so I check the bottom of the valve guides and it does look like there is fresh oil on the bottom of them,I guessed sumit was up with the oil can i found in the back of the car lol. So guess I'll be doing the head gasket and valve seals the same time, not what I had planned but oh well.

Right well its all back together, and it was a piece of cake to do, I was dreading it but it was all straight forward even refitting was easy. Just waiting for these bloody boost and coolant pipes to come from forge.

You replaced valve seals too?
I have to say that you're fast!

Also I would love a guide on this engine about that, hope you got some pics of the procedure!

Nah I didn't do the valves seals in the end, im thinking there maybe a new turbo on there due to the seals going in the old 1 maybe and with the previous owner using rubbish oil. It was so easy to do anyway so wouldn't bother me if I had to take it off again. Don't forget I have no front end on my car so the amount of room i have is awesome. If anyone is doing this job I would say to take the front end off, it's only a few bolts and the amount of access you have is great, makes the job 10 times easier. As for pics, by the time I thought of it I had already taken it off. I will try and make a guide showing what to do and use. It's so easy I could probably talk someone though it easy enough.

Well this is how my car looks now, according to the fiat software I have its boosting at 21 psi at standstill, it read just over 1500mb which equals 21.7 psi ☺ but I did have 1 of the pipes disconnected off the turbo actuator .

Looks wild hehe

Btw 5 door belts are not the same as 3 door.

While the mechanism is the same 3 door mount is different. (ofcourse you can modify/sew it)

Thanks lol I've done the seat belts now mate, got them for £25 each which is cheap, airbag lights all out now. 1 question, where does the crash impact sensor connect to the front panel?
