Can someone tell me why the previous owner has wired in a single wire going to the pink/black wire? I can only imagine it's so the connector can be disconnected so you get chatter and to stop the ecu knowing you have disconnected it.

Where is this? On the pressure release valve?

Ah right ok thanks.

Has anyone done a compression test on their tjet? Just want to see if mines near enough right or if I need to plan for further work later on. Mine is showing just over 110 psi on each cylinder.

Not much progress at the moment, they had only just started on it. Got a new bonnet which was test fitted now looking for bumper either new or complete 2nd hand

good question.

I don't know and I really want to know that too.

110 psi it's LOW generaly speaking.

No wet test?

Wet test? I just put the compression gauge on and cranked the engine a few times. I thought I would be low though due to the piston shape? And the lower compression for the turbo?

wet test = a tablespoon of oil into the cyl. If you see a huge difference (lets say 30-40psi more than dry test then you have a lot of wear on piston rings.)

well yes I didn't expect a high compression but I think 110psi is low.

Do a wet test just for our info lol.

Thanks mate, it's going to be stunning when it's done, everything is being stripped and painted, none of this masking stuff. Same colour red with gloss black roof.

Giugiaros work is such a superb piece of design. I've had my own Grande well over a year now, and I still admire it every time I go out in it.

I'm too scared to do it now just in case it's bad news lol I won't have the car back for another few weeks so will do it then.

I know that feeling :p

Well if it drives fine, no huge oil consumption etc don't bother.

Maybe dyno test it someday ;)

I haven't driven it yet lol, it was put on the back of a transporter and delivered to my house and then put in a garage, I did give it a sneaky go the other day and it felt fine, only up around the house. I'll do the test anyway as I would like to know so I can plan for further mods and fixes. I'm thinking it will be using oil as there was an oil can on the floor of the car when I collected it, and when I looked with a bore scope when the exhaust mani was off I could see a little oil on the valve guides but I'm think that will be from the Vavle seals. Anyway only time will tell. I'll just send the whole engine to Mr fix it (I think that's what he's called) and just get it fully race prepped ?
