Hi All,

Recently I had some disasters occur on my car, start of April = Radiator went (replaced this + pipe)
The end of April my Gearbox popped, yes all of the bearings until second gear.
My fault really, the whining sound from the bearing was apparent in September for 5th and 6th gear.

Anyway, to add, I had my car Gearbox refurbed, it runs a treat now (fitted + refurbed @ £950 including the labour costs of fitting this + the clutch 3 pc kit I bought.).

What is happening:

When I slowly pull off or any time I reverse, it makes a whiny almost like the cars going to die sort of sound, I spoke to a friend who used to race in the BTCC and his business that he runs, he told me it doesn't sound right and it may be the bearing (slave or something), but another garage said it may need bleeding - my clutch pedal doesn't bite until after the half way mark and when I push it down from the half way mark to the bottom - it has NO resistance.

I am going to visit the garage who originally completed this job tomorrow, is this something you guys are aware of?

To add, if I am sitting in a drive-threw you can really hear it when pulling away and it's also apparent when I am stationary and slowly release the clutch (but it does not stop whining when I push this down) that's why I think the release bearing isn't the issue.

JUST TO ADD:

When they replaced my clutch with a new one, they didn't replace the DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) would this be causing the whining sound? *I hope not!*

Anyone reckon this will be either the clutch needing to be bled correctly?
Clutch and DUal Mass not being correct OR worst case the dual mass needing to be replaced?

I'm popping over at 2 to find out what they say.

You should replace the DMF too when you had the chance.

About the pedal resistance, you need to bleed the slave cyl again.

Cheers CMOS,

Yeah the garage advised that they would like to help save costs and said the DMF was okay and not required a change, I popped in there yesterday and they've asked me to bring it in during the week, I have a feeling the clutch does need bleeding as it doesn't feel right.

The sound isn't the best but I'm hoping they can say if it's the DMF or not, I was quoted £176 for a new one.

What would the normal labour hours be for fitting the DMF?
