My wife's GP has always clattered a little on the local roads, speed humps and potholes everywhere, I usually cure it with new drop links easy. But it has now developed a heavier clunk that seems to come from the rear of the car. I recall some time back, an Uno we owned had a similar noise, it was caused by a knackered rear top suspension bush. Bouncing around on the car does not generate the noise, so my question is do they suffer from this kind of problem?

Have a look at the pivot bushes where the axle mounts, give them a good lever in all directions. These can cause a random, hard knock. Not the easiest of jobs, same as a Stilo. I had a tool made up to press mine back in.
