What a fortnight, started with a slight vibration when pressing down the clutch, then when cold a tapping rattling sound, rather like when big ends go, which went once warm or a few revs applied, car drove fine.
Into B&Q come back to car press down clutch, stay on the floor!!:bang:
Recovery has a look verdict slave cylinder gone. tow truck home.
Working shifts drive to garage without clutch at 530am after agreeing price of £350 for cylinder and new clutch, as gearbox has to come off.
Phone call later in day DMF flywheel knackered

collect car £530 lighter in walletand mechanic shows me the removed parts, DMF had seized destroying the clutch pressure plate which had destroyed the slave cylinder, but spared the gearbox:worship:.
Photographed the pressure plate.
