Technical Grande Punto been immobilised??????

Hi thanks for your kind offer, but i really dont think there is a problem with the board, and i guess i cant really wait a few days for the board to arrive, the board itself looks pristine, and the transponder seems in perfect condition too, is there anything that i can do, might have to just pay for reprogamming :(

IF you go for reprogramming, get a NEW key cut + installed, THEN try and add this key, ;)

that way you won't be paying £80 for a call-out that achieves NOWT..!!, :bang:

now you know why we don't recommend buying a car without the 2 x keys,;)

It really doesn't take much to damage something could be as simple as you popped a capacitor of the board or cracked a solder joint when you tried to pry it open. If you flexed the coil the then the carbon core may have cracked and there would be no visible damage. It's easy enough to check pop into any local key cutters that does car keys any branch of timpsons will do. Ask them to read you key on there transponder programmer if it's working it will read as id46 if it's not then it will give a no transponder message.
You can try getting the key reprogrammed if you like but if the transponder isn't working which I'd put money on being the case. All you will do is run the risk of deleting the key from the cars memory making it irrecoverable.

Underneath the other side of the board are two gold plates which i assume where the battery contacts with the board and that does have some scratching where the screwdriver has scratched it, i dont know if that should cause a problem or not?
Are you sure?
Even a tiny damaged trace on the pcb may be the cause

Thanks ill have a look tomorrow and see if that gets read, so if they say there is a signal that can be read then what are my options?

The gold plated bits underneath are the contacts for the battery. The battery is only needed for the remote to work. These being scratched will have no effect on the immobiliser function. If you pried against the board it will have flexed and something on the board will have broken be it a trace solder joint or the coil.

Just checked the board again and went to touch one part and track is damaged and a chip fell off! so you were right the board is actually damaged, is there any chance you still have your board? i can pm you my details? Thanks

If it reads I'd be very surprised it has a fixed encrypted code so the immobiliser can't fall out of sync. If your really really unlucky you might have shorted the remote circuit with the immobiliser circuit and corrupted the memory in the pcf. But I'm assuming the battery was already out when you put the screwdriver in. So the only thing to discharge would be a tiny bit of current from one of the capacitors which you should get away with.

Yup still got the board + a few more. Check if you have someone local to swap the chip over for you. If not as a last resort i can do it for you by return post. Not ideal though as it's your only key.

Just been the maddest few hours! Baiscally repaired the part of the circuit board using pencil graphite and jamming the surface mount resistor onto the board and tried placing it near the ignition coil and my car switched on!!!!!!!!!! Showing that everything works, then as i walked back into the house to glue the chip back on i dropped the chip and its so small i cant even find it anywhere, i guess its just a matter of buying a new board and soldering my chip onto it. I have bought one off ebay for 8 pound so its not too bad i guess, thanks for the help!

It's the copper coil on the thinner part of the board that normally is damaged.

Also by any chance does anyone know what that surface mount resistor is that is covered in the blue glue? the one thats connected to the main chip, i can have a look and see if anyone has this locally

Might as well get this section off 2 a start by shamelessly plugging the FIAT Motor Club (GB)
Visit http://www.fiatmotorclubgb.com 4 more info.
The club organises events and participates in shows all over the UK including the Classic Car Show and the Auto Italia Trackfest day. This is on top of many local events and trips abroad. U get 12 magazines a year which feature many articles and contact details of dealers and parts suppliers as well as a classified ads section.
For an annual fee of £25 u get the magazines, a car sticker and joint membership 4 u & ur spouse/partner. Membership also gets u deals on parts and entry in2 certain events.
They cater 4 every single FIAT model made since Fabricca Italiana di Automobili Torino (FIAT) started in 1899 and there r experts 4 each model who regularly give advice and tips and welcome contact from fellow members.
All of this and discounted RAC membership and reduced insurance premiums mean that membership is a must 4 any FIAT nut.

Look 4ward 2 c'ing new members soon,

Rob.

It still has an immobiliser chip in it though?

The non remote key? Yes still has an immobiliser chip but it's a self contained ceramic chip rather than being part of a circuit board it's moulded into the plastic part of the key.

That's the important thing, lol! Purely out of interest, how comes it only comes with 1 folding remote key, especially being a high spec model?

Btw, I don't know where all the previous quote stuff came from, I was actually quoting cmosfxx, lol!

Thanks for the offer, my brother just bought it, and do you know exaclty which capacitor it is like the name of it?
You could have had the board I have for nothing.
The little component next to the pcf in the corner with the blue gunk on it is 100pf capacitor
