Hi guys,

I'm doing a suspension overhaul/upgrade on the 1.9, all new bushes, links, arms and shock absorbers etc.

The car has done just over 87000mi and is probably still on the original dampers so probably time to replace them.

I'm currently on Apex 35mm drop springs front and rear which are ok at the moment so don't necessarily need replacing.

My question is which set of shock absorbers to go for?

My 2 main choices are the H&R kit or a set of Bilstein B8 dampers (same as B6 but shortened to work better with lowering springs). These come to around £320.

I know a couple on here have the H&R cup kits and rate them highly - are these the sport or the touring kits? Can get them for around £420.

I'm not bothered about coilovers as I use the car up and down the country and going much lower would just be impractical, it only just got on the tow truck the other day and scraped the underside to **** when my g'box went so on coils it would have been stranded :bang:. I can also get good shocks for the price of so-so coilovers.

I wondered if anyone had any other suggestions or comments about this?

Thanks for the help!
Jacob
