Where to begin
It's a 1.4 16v Starjet Engine

1. Rear Heated Window not working

Had the multimeter out and the connection points to the window say there is 12v across them. Starting to think my lines across the window have somehow lost their restiveness. Tips on fixing this?

2. OBD Error P0221 - Throttle Position B Sensor Performance/Range malfunction
Also had a multimeter and had a live mapping view of the throttle body and everything is fine. It has been cleaned and all connections are spot on. Had trouble with breather hose which has been replaced, error still flags up.

Noticed more specifically what triggered it was when revs were high, and the engine started whining. Slightly worrying now. Basically the error thats flagging up, is not the throttle body itself. Running out of things to test.

My dad suggested there was a blockage coming from what seems to be some form of air recirculation valve coming from the rocker cover to the air intake.

3. Rear lights, passenger more specifically. Very intimitant. Bulbs have been replaced and connection to the taillight is spot on.

4. Air conditioning, the light comes on the dashboard to say its on. However, nothing happens. At all. Engine revs dont increase, under the bonnet it is like it is not engaging whatsoever.

Please please help me guys/girls i love this car to pieces but im running out of justification for the amount of money its costing me.

3. Rear lights on them are prone to getting water inside, replacement of bulbs won't work. You will need to check all the circuits and bulb holders. I had to clean mine up with electrical cleaner, wire brush and wire wool.

It's an easy job to do as the the circuits are long metal strips.

Thank you all for your replies.

The brake light issue is still there. It is not the tail light itself more the wires leading to it.

My indicator bulb faintly lights up when the brake is applied and with research it led me to the ground. The ground has been cleaned and the problem is still there!

My rear window i will try something like what you linked to however that one in particular seems to have poor reviews.

There is 12v across the rear window just nowhere near enough resistance to create heat.

Thanks guys for posting! :)

1)Are you sure it's not working ? It takes a lot of time actually, I've seen other cars with much faster heater.

2)For a start, execute a Reset self-learn function (multiecuscan can do that)

3)This is totally a cable/connection problem. There's somewhere a problem. Check cables all the way again.

4)ECU will not increase RPM like other cars do.

But there's a limit. AC is not working always on idle rpm. It depends on engine load, rpm and coolant temperature. Also ECU shuts down AC when de-accelerating or accelerating hard to maintain the same performance.

So, are you sure AC it's not working with FAN set to 1 or higher (0 = disabled AC although the LED is on)

For the faulty light issue, this is common.
Electricity is taking the path of least resistance, and this may be through another bulb via earth.

The cause of your problem in all probability is the wire connection the the lamp unit, which is starting to corrode or go crusty.

Remove the lamp unit take it indoors. and thoroughly clean all the contacts with wet n dry paper, don't skimp on time, spend at least 20 minutes on this.
It's tricky as there isn't much room to work, so you'll need a small screwdriver or similar, and wrap wet n dry around this.
Use a little wd40 or similar on the wet n dry paper.

Then do the same on the plug it's self, this is a little tricker as getting wet and dry in between the contacts is tricky.
Fold the wet n dry to form like a small file.
If your'e tempted to wrap wet n dry around anything metallic, then remove the negative from the battery, you really don't want to short anything out.

99.999% guaranteed this is your fault.

Cheers for the reply! It was the plug, took it for its mot and the mechanic sorted it out for me, for free which was a shock. Cross Lane Motors in Radcliffe. Awesome.

For my p0221 issue thought id just post how i fixed it. Randomly seen on eBay a throttle body for my exact age/engine model. Turns out they only made this throttle body for 1 year. But £30 later, new (old) throttle body fitted its running perfect. turns out it was the pot in the throttle body. Thought id break it all apart to find out what caused me so much trouble. Hope that helps anyone with similar issues.

Air Con is only problem now, lights come on inside... at any point in driving. Just doesn't engage with the belt.
