absolutely gorge :p il take one in red with smoked windows lashings of carbon and a 2l 20v turbo conversion please ;)
i really like stilos (3 door 1.8 16v blackj yellow or red) but this just tops it. the red one is stunning. take off the badge from the front grille (not so people dont know its a fiat, just because it would look nice with a plain one on). fill the arches a bit more and drop it and it would look sweet nothing major just nice and subtle. but then again subtle isnt somthing i can do :)

I really cant be assed with car reviews anymore (n)

Just you wait till the new corsa comes out theyll be all singing and raving about that when its the same floorpan and engines etc. Theyre just being overally critical on it cause its italian. So all i can say is FCK THEM :p

Been thinking about this car today, love the looks but....

Why bigger than the current car? Rover did this with the 96 Rover 200, made a small/big car and it flopped. Also it starts at 11,100 euros which I guess will mean £7995 here for a Punto Active with a 1.2 65bhp engine!!!! Can you imagine how gutless that will be!?!? The current Punto 8v is slow and this ones bigger, a granny car in the making. They should give up that engine now and start at 1.4 for £7995 and it may be better value. Im not sure yet if it will be the success they hope for... trouble is when the current Punto goes there will be no proper sized supermini in the range.

That points to another error that rover made, the City rover with its base and only engine being the 1.4. Too thursty for town use.
Anyway Fiat have a good enough 1.2 with the 16v unit

Just to let everyone thats interested know I Got a phone call from Fiat international Italy??? This morning regarding an e-mail i had sent them about the new punto release dates, The guy i spoke to told me it is due for release here in december and that i was the FIRST person from Ireland to show intrest in it's release!?! We had a good chat about the car and the engines that they would be useing and he told me that they were not yet sure about what specs and levels of trim they will be offering here (that helps:) ) anyway he asked me why i showed such intrest in the car other than the normal I want one answer i told him about Fiatforum.com and how it had deffinatly influanced my opinion on the car and he said he would have to have a look at the site sometime (he probly won't) and said he would sent me some brochures on the car and somemore info ASAP. I must say that this was the most un expected call i have EVER recived from anyone but deffinatly the most interesting conversation. Hopefully i will recive the info soon there might be something interesting in there?

They aren't using the 1.2 8v though scorg, it has been discussed before.

Stilo Alian, was he sure about the December date? I am sure I read otherwise + surely they would be shipping the cars now but he doesn't know the specs/trim? Maybe my idea of how long it takes to ship a new model of car is wrong.

Yes they are; it is the same 1242cc 'fire' unit in the current Punto, but with an extra 5bhp released. The two petrols at launch are both 8-valve, the 65bhp 1.2 and 77bhp 1.4 ;)

Paul, he's in Ireland. It's possible that the launch date will be different from the UK.

Here's another new official image. The new Fiat Grande Punto Abarth Rallye.
That looks like a bad photoshop to me, look at the abarth sun shade and there's a big gap behind the rear wheel and the rims have a bold black outline around the rim itself. Also why take so much time cleaning the car for a photo and leave the tyres looking like they have just come off a tractor

Also, the new punto looks great, but I deffinately won't be buying one, because that interior, especially the dash, looks utter crap (n)

I dont recall mentioning the 1.2 8v :)
But then Ive never seen any engine talks before.

(noticed the correction to 16v later on, shame that, would prefer it over the 8v 1.4)

Sorry what i meant was that he wasn't sure weather they would differ at tall from the Italy and UK specs he said he could only guess that they would be the same but that the Irish market has a few difrences to the UK.

The front of it looks too much like an Audi,

Don't kinow what they are thinking with 120 AND 130 HP diesels together. The lower one should be 105 or 110 and there really needs to be at least a 150 version in the near future to keep up with the Joneses. Does anyone suppose the 2.4 JTD will fit? With 200 HP and a mountain of torque it ought to haul ass big time!

;)

i think they are missing some "medium" engines... like the 1.4 95bhp or a diesel in between the 1.3 90bhp and 1.9 120... and since they already have the 130bhp one maybe the 120 should be a 110/105 or something... other than that il looks great (saw it live yesterday) and should be grat fun to drive (the new clio is said to be not as fun)..

i'll post some pictures soon :)

PS have fun with the configurator here: http://www.fiatpunto.com/eng/
