Oh right, have you installed all of the wiring yourself as aftermarket wiring or are you trying to use the original wiring?

I have used the original wiring in the engine bay which are connected to headligt fan and foglight etc. the wiring goes direct to the fusebox, now the problem is that i also have to change the full wiring under the dashboard? and I dont want to do that, so know the question is can anyone provide me a wiring diagram for the switch so i can wire it direct up to the fusebox, without replacing the full wiring under the dashboard?

You won't be able to use any of the exisiting wiring to get them working, you'll have to use all new wiring and a replacement switch.

This is because when factory fitted they're canbus operated, and cannot be programmed into the canbus controlling body computer to retrospectivly work.

Its been covered a fair bit on here (y)

thanks for the reply

so if i replace the wiring under the dashboard will it work then? and do i also have to replace the ecu?

all those parts are from second hand (crashed car with fog light)

can u also tell me which fuse is for fog light on my grande punto?

The fog lights are controlled by the body computer of the car, by the time the grande came along fiat were no longer fitting unnecessary wiring so if you have no fog lights you won't have fog light wiring, my grande does not have conditioning for example and so has absolutely no wiring or hardware fitted for air con.

To fit front fogs you would first need to confirm you body computer would support front fog lights if it doesn't then it does blow the whole idea out of the water.

If they are supported but no wiring you would need new dash loom and lighting loom which needs half the car taking apart to fit

The best way to do this would be fit the switch and a flip flop/latch which would keep the lights on after you've pressed the button as the fog light button is only an intermittent contact.

Finally you'd need to tap into the fog light warning light on the dash as most countries have laws that state this has to be illuminated if the fog lights are in use.

What you want is not impossible but it is a massive pain in the arse

Any chance you could post an update on how you got on?
I am currently attempting the same thing with our Panda. I have the lights and a dashboard switch, but have run up against the same problems - the wiring to the lamps isn't there and the "body computer" isn't configured to switch them.
My current plan is to use the OEM dashboard switch and a cheap bi-stable relay from RS or Maplins to switch the lamps. I'm pretty confident I can make it work that way.
Cheers...

What ballast connectors are used for the 09 punto grande i got an after market spotlight harness kit as my punto didn't come with spots the harness has H1 plugs but these are too big and it's a nightmare trying to find what ballast connections to get .
