I have a gearbox leak, what I'm wondering is, is the T-Jet gearbox specific to only the T-Jet because of the power or would any 5 speed gearbox work in a T-Jet?
Had a look online, couldn't find an answer

How bad is the leak and could it not just be seals that have gone does the whole gearbox need replaced I have had both seals replaced recently and the gearbox flushed and re-oiled. Have you had it looked at by a mechanic?

Not yet, only found it Friday night. I'm just ascertaining rough costs. If it's shared I can get a recon unit for £300 and the same to fit with a new clutch.

How much did you pay? & how long was it in for?

Jake.

£132.50 and was in half a day :)

Awesome! Do you know if the gearbox came out to do that?

If it's just a drive shaft seal the box dosent need to come out, mine had an advisory as an mot but just got round to doing it today

It's coming off of the gearbox itself, not the driveshaft.

You could try our luck with a 6 speed M32 box that the Bravo's have (and the Astra VXR).
But these seem to be made of marshmallow... a lot of them have problems with the bearings, but then again a lot of them are fine.

On the PLUS side there is a shortshifter available for the M32 and it's awesome.

Little update. Turns out one of the seals had gone. On opening the casing up the specialists were able to scoop out silicone out of the gearbox. It also transpires that they used the wrong bolts too.

It had been done previously, by a main dealer... What else...
