Good morning,

Im in the process of replacing my EGR, but have some questions after reading a multitude of post on here.

Plesae keep the responses relevant and on topic.

Mr car: GP 1.9 Mjet Sporting (199 engine)

1. EGR - Im not going to clean mine, I dont want to - So Im replacing with a new one. There are pleanry on the bay ranging from £48 up. Does anyone know the exact part numger for this?

2. Ive seen alot of info around using a swirl gasket, but can anyone tell me the following;
2.a - do you use the gasket, when you still are using the EGR, has nothing to do with blanking or egr delete. I want to keep mine working.

2.b - Can anyone supply a link to where I hcan buy these I cant find any incl ebay.

2.c Am i correct in saying, if i use a swirl gasket, it is placed between the EGR and the corrigate flext hose? - see image attached

3. Might be a silly question - Does the 1.9 Mjet have a divert valave? - I can not seam to locate one. If they do what is the part number and or where can I get a replacement (I dont think it has one but want to be sure)

4. Boost solanoid - what does this do? where is it located? what is the part number and where can I get one. Would this be related to boost release as I sometimes get it relasing a little.

the car idles fine, and boost pipes are fine.

As mentioned please remain on topic with answers.

Thanks

Z

Thanks

1.) OEM Part no is: 55215032. http://shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Details&ProdID=4965&sku=55334. Obviously that's for a genuine Fiat approved part "Pierburg".

2.) Yes the gasket is for maintaining the use of the EGR (it doesn't disable it). It's the same as a blanking plate except it's got holes in it. This in effect causes the gasses to "swirl" and avoid a lot of the carbon build up.

From what I gather it goes onto the other side underneath.

3.) No diverter valve as far as I know. No need on a Diesel due to throttle operating injector timing and not a throttle butterfly.

4.) Again no boost solenoid. I believe it's operated via Vacuum which operates the Variable vane turbo.

Brilliant, thanks for this.

Only very very very and I mean very small symptons - the very off stutter.

Also, at times the boost comes in...then flattends off....then picks up again...is that a sympton?

Also, on the od occassion when acceleration slowly (Ive an induction kit on) I here the pressure release....any common reasons as to why this happends.

Why don't you just block it off? Then give the inlet manifold and the map sensor a clean.

From blocking it off my mjet felt slightly better, I can imagine it will be better in the long run too, these egr's are a waste of time imo and are only bung on to meet regulations and such

Hi Chris (or anyone else)

Is there anything wrong with this egr? The price is good.
