Hey everyone!

Today I got my awesome new 56 plate Grande Punto Sporting... Its absolutely amazing in all its black glory!! After getting it home however the driver side window which had been working fine all the way home (up and down because it kept raining) seems to have completely stopped working...?! I also have noticed tonight that when the cars headlights are on obviously all the interior switches etc light up but on the driver side panel only the passenger window switch lights up and right next to it the driver side switch doesn't light up red at all... I have attached a picture sorry its a bit dark but it had to be so you could see that it isn't lit up (this is a right hand drive English car I should point out )!

There is absolutly no relay "clicking" or anything when I try to operate the driver side window... its completely dead... Passenger side however is absolutely fine and perfect...!! Where do I start???

Check the body to door connection drivers side - in the black rubber tubing is a number of wires. These split in half.

You need to peel back the black rubber sleeve good inspection of the wires. If their are some broken ones it's easy to fix yourself with a soldering iron, heat shrink and time.

This is what happened to mine. It's a poor design.

Alternatively it could be the switch but it's unlikely as it's still got power.

Heyy thank you so much for your advice... I went out this morning to check exactly what you said but I tried the window and the flipping thing worked first time :|!!!! I have NO idea how?! Do you think that there is an intermittent or damaged wire/connection somewhere in the general area of the door??? Should I still check it out or is it quite a long job?

I would still check it, mine was intermittent before it failed completely. I had five broken wires in the loom, that had simply been spliced through because of opening and closing the door and it rubbing against the door.

It's a really simple job to check. Just need to pull the rubber sleeve back as hard as you can and examine the wires. I was quoted something like £220 for a new wiring loom don't how for labour though.

It took me several hours to fix and the cost of a soldering iron.

Finally got some time this weekend to have a little look at the wiring inside the door connection! I'll let you know if I managed to find anything! Having said that, ever since I had the problem, it hasn't happened again since... seems to be okay... I'll try to take a look anyway but I can't seem to find a way of just "sliding back" the rubber sleeve...? I'll have a look tomorrow anyway! Thanks again!

Has to be pulled back with a bit of force! Making the sure you don't pull the wires out of the connections.

Mine was intermittent at times to until it completely failed.

This happend on my GP about 6 months ago, the window got stuck down in a down pore and I had to mask a bin bag over it untill I got a chance to take a look.

When I went to have a look an hour later the window worked perfect and has done ever since, I think it's just one of Fiat's many eletrical gremlins....

It's becoming a more common fault as the cars are getting older.
