quick question before this bid ends...

Would I be able to get this cut and programmed to my car? I used to have the older style key if that makes a difference. (ps not the kind of person to try and pretend I have an Abarth, just this seems cheap at the moment!)

Doesn't matter guys, I'll just wait until I know how I'm going to get another replacement remote key

I know its too late but in theory there is no reason why that key shouldn't have worked (unless someone can prove me wrong )

My understanding is that there are two things the key does. Open the doors (remotely in this case) and start them car by physically turning the key in the ignition and at the same time via the keys transponder chip telling the car's ECU that it is the correct key programmed to the car. It's the last piece that is the problem....each car has a unique signal that is programmed onto it's chip. The chip is different across years and models and hence you need to have the same chip that the original key had and then you can get someone to program it to your car. EG My daughters Grande Punto has an ID 46 chip and no way will any other chip in a key work.

So I'm afraid it's not a straight forward job.
