I own a Fiat Punto 2007 1.4 with Dualogic.

Recently, I was stationary in traffic with Drive selected. Suddenly the gearbox switched to Neutral. I tried restarting engine then selecting Drive, but every time this triggered an alarm. "Check Transmission" is displayed on the screen along with the Dualogic Transmission Failure light coming on.

The car has since been transported to the local Fiat dealer for servicing. They inform me that they have attempted to use their diagnostic analyzer but it will not communicate with the system. They are waiting for a response from Fiat Technical Dept.

I intend to do my own research while waiting to hear from the Fiat dealer. I would appreciate any advice regarding a likely cause and solution.

MultiECUScan software - which you can download easily, 50 Euro - will connect to the gearbox ECU via a standard ELM327 cable. Then you'll be able to read the fault code - probably a lack of hydraulic pressure. Could also be the brake pedal switch (may need adjusting).

Check the battery voltage. Anything under 12.3v (engine off) or 13.8v (engine running) is cause for concern.

If you remove the aluminium heat shield on the front of the gearbox, you'll expose a tank of Selespeed (CS Speed) fluid, which should be topped up to the green line. It has a plastic screw cap on top.

The pump is operated by a relay (somewhere), I haven't found this yet.
Does the pump run for a normal length of time when you open the driver's door?

check the battery
if it is ok connect it to multiecuscan
here in egypt because of the heavy traffic it usually a clutch kit with the external fork
or the fork only (but the fork on;y usually it drives good then suddenly N after a couple of tries it drive normally again )
or the pressure regulator it is a small black tank looks like a ball or bomb
