Hi all,

My multi jet has developed a nice new rattle. Sounds like a metalic tapping sound, happens when the car is idling and can also be heard at low speeds. With the bonnet open it sounds as if it is coming from the air filter on the driver side but I cant be sure.

Any ideas what this could be or should it be down the garage again.

Hi mate, I had the same thing.
I replaced one of the auxiliary belt pulleys and crankshaft pulley and that's solved most of it.

My air con pulley is still making the noise but only quietly and not enough for me to go replacing the air con pump!

Get your front right wheel off and listen to the pulleys with the engine idling.

Try using a piece of pipe like a stethoscope to isolate the particular pulley, but watch you don't get it caught in the belt!
