Timing belt

Hi! My timing belt needs changing soon in my grande Punto and I know someone who can do it for me but will I need a special tool to do it? Cheaper just to go to the garage? Thanks x

Re: Timing belt

There's been a few posts on this recently. Have to lock the engine/camshaft position. Usually a garage job

The locking tools must be used its also possible that a phonic wheel learn will be needed

Re: Timing belt

Ok, think I'll just take it to the garage! What are decent quotes to have it replaced? I don't want to get ripped off!

Re: Timing belt

Got mine done at Intaservices: http://www.freewebs.com/intaservices/ in Leicester. Was about 300 pounds including a new water pump which is recommended

Re: Timing belt

I had mine done at Sandicliffe on Vernon Rd, Basford and they charged 290 to change the timing belt and waterpump.

They used to be a Fiat dealer but changed to Kia however they still do Fiat servicing etc.

I went to TIM Fiat on Haydn Rd, Sherwood but they quoted about 450
