Folks,

The engine light is lit and scrolling across the dash display is 'CHECK ENGINE'...

Any ideas??

I've got VCDS for my Passat, will this be of any help?

Anyone got a list of things to check, can I do a manual reset, i.e. disconnect the battery for two mins?

Its just been serviced by a local garage..

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Fingers crossed you can help

Regards

Jon(y)

VCDS is for VW's.
You'll need MultiEcuScan an ELM327 and relevent cables to suit.
Only then would you be able to figure out what the car is telling you.

Late last night I did manage using VCDS to get the fault codes; I have the following:

Mode 01: Pending emission related fault codes
Mode 03: Emission related fault codes
Address 10 (engine) 2 faults found
P010F - Mass or volume air flow sensor A/B correlation
P0401 - EGR system: insufficient flow

Am I hopefully correct in thinking that a blocked EGR valve is causing the MAF sensor error?

Jon

I think that I'll have a look at cleaning the EGR system first, if the light is still there afterwards, then I may have to investigate an MAF sensor....

From indirect experience, it appears that genuine is the only way to go??
