No a lsd isnt justifiable in these cars, they are terrible it will only break again lol if i was ever to fit would it would only be to a fwd hot hatch pushing 240+ something like a cupra r to actually benefit

Dmf are fitted for people that cant drive, ive never noticed any difference in the mondeo, if you get judder your doing it wrong ha

I agree on whether its justifiable in the Punto, but I disagree on the other points. My other car has an LSD and makes good use of it. Yes its a FWD but nowhere near 240HP, yet, driven hard or on track the effects can be clearly felt imo.

My 75HP 1.3MJet doesn't have a DMF, and I challenge you to drive that smoother than me, it's impossible to get off the line without any judder, whether be it clutch only, or clutch and throttle to get moving, same for reverse from a standing start ;)

Haha, you are not wrong, but it's cheap motoring. :)

By the way, now that you have joined the "cockblock brigade" at least wait for the membership badge to arrive before getting on your high horse. :p

GrandeGuy, I appreciate the sentiment lol, and I do fine without a DMF on two cars, thanks. The little diesel though is as refined as a little tractor can be but its still jerky. ;)

Lmao im not sure of the reference to cockblock lol

Errm... its my customized term for describing Bavarian Money Waster drivers. I believe Jeremy Clarkson has now re-allocated his version of the term for Audi drivers lol :p so now it applies to you lol All in good humour though ;)

Heres me thinking it was a friend stopping two other friends from
Getting it on haha

I used to hate audi drivers but not as much as bmw drivers

I had mixed messages from industry about the gearbox, some even said that there were about 10 different versions of the M32, which was is also fitted to the Astra, Zafira and many others.

So, a local gearbox company to me, Geartech in Hartlebury who've been in the industry for 30yrs and are very well respected rebuilt our box. Oh, its lovely now!

As it tuned out, the failure wasn't the diff, but the sixth gear bearing which seized up, causing the whole bearing assembly to spin, wearing away the gearbox casing, eventually this lead to shaft movement which resulted in fairly catastrophic gearbox failure!

I also learned a few things about the potential causes of these failures too -lack of oil! Cars were actually leaving the factory without sufficient oil level in the gearbox.. Having spoken to someone that was heavily involved in Jaguar / Land rover, it seems that filling the gearbox was also an issue for them, apparently they got just 30 seconds to fill a gearbox.. BMW even experimented with filling it 90% and then putting the last 10% at a later stage, overfilling and then sucking a percentage back has also been tried..

Hopefully things are better these days.

Cheers

Jon :)
