Thanks T14086, what is its purpose? Also T25 screw ain't doing its job anymore since the screw head is knackered, any suggestions?

Fuel vapour return pipe, part number you need is 51790293. I might have one but I am away for a few days so cant check until the weekend. Think they are around £30-35. A protective sheath was fitted around this section of pipe as a precaution on later models.

Taped the fuel vapour return pipe up as a temp fix until I can get a new part from somewhere, car started first time this morning! Still had a little drop with the revs when I de-pressed the accelerator but after that it worked like new! No stalling or EML! Still want to replace the MAP sensor though after examining the state of mayo (oil mixture) in and around the sensor... is that just a poor design issue or should I be looking for something else? Just happy I don't have to torture the engine 6-7 times to get it going without knowing what other damage I was doing! :D:sly:

Just as I suspected, turned the car on this morning, when it was much colder than when I tried a day ago, and it happened again. No fecking rest for the wicked eh?!

Until now you only taped up the fuel vapor line. did you do anything else?
If not it does not surprise me it is doing it again. It woud have been extremely weird because that pipe should not influence starting..or general running.
I also have problems starting my car in the morning, i first thought it was the fuel pump.. because it starts fine when the gas tank is full ( or close to).. but starts misbehaving when it drops under half a tank.
A few days ago i temporarily replaced my fuel pump with one from a friend ( without starting problems) but it still didn't start right.
I also replaced the map sensor, same bad start.

Long story short.. does it start ok, if you have a full tank of fuel ?

Yeah, that was my initial thought. Never even realised it had a slash in it until a few days ago... taped it up and started first time (weirdly, for the first time in about a month) and then tried it the next morning without changing anything else and it done it again! Never noticed any difference with different amounts of fuel on board no, that was my initial diagnosis but it does it with a full tank and when the fuel light comes on. Still has problems regardless of petrol level. Did you have mayo (oil mixture) in and around your MAP Sensor? Starting to suspect it is just a bad design feature from Fiat...

Checked lambda sensors to find the post-cat sensor to be a little loose. Gave it a tighten up with a spanner as I didn't have the specific lambda remover tool. So far it seems to have made a big difference. For the moment (don't want to jinx it) but that seems to have fixed it :) obviously because it measures both inside and outside of the exhaust system the difference wasn't as great due to unforeseen air in the exhaust pipe. Something like that anyway.

I read you only replaced the map sensor, and that fixed the cold start issue, but the you had problems like stalling, so you put back the original one. Are you still using the original one?
The lambda sensors are not used while starting the vehicle... and it shouldn't contribute to the long term fuel trim either ( seeing that it's the post cat lambda sensor)
