Daughters car is a very nice 1.2 2008 Fiat Grande Punto. Great wee car but only has one remote key. Contacted the Fiat dealership here in Aberdeen to get a new manual key sorted.

Manual key £153.83
Coding £ 48.00
Labour £103.20 one hour!!
Total £305.03.

Ha ha.......what a complete and utter joke!!! Now on the look out to see how I can do it cheaper. Have a key that has the correct coding chip in it and will get that cut so that it opens the doors then need to find some way fo coding it to the car.

Gotta laugh!!

Mine was £180 from a family friend.. Still didn't enjoy paying even that, you could try aftermarket alarms

We charge Forum members £60 for this key.
It's a none remote key that will start the car.

We need you, the car and your wallet for about 10mins.

Give me a call

I can't see the OP doing that since they live in Aberdeen ;)

Agree....which is part of the problem living in the sticks although I may have found someone closer who will deliver a similar service....fingers crossed...(y)

I also had an issue with my key as I acquired the car.

I ended up buying two key cases from ebay (first one was a crap moulding) and swapping the PCB and battery to the new fob. That was about 10 quid, but required a bit of fettling as the moulding is slightly different on the inside (in both cases) which would not allow the metal part of the key to be swapped over to the new fob even after cutting some plastic out.

I had to settle for using the metal part that came with the new fob and having a local key cutting place cut the key for me. They didn't want to do it due to people coming back to them when the metal part of the key breaks, so I agreed I wouldn't be one of those people so they cut it for me for free, no transaction, no guarantee, result.

The new key works, but the boot open button is a bit stiff and easy to press accidentally, so I now have the annoyance sometimes of having to close the tailgate if the door indicator is on, but for 10 quid I cant argue.

Alternatively, there is a guy on Ebay who is able to supply and program a new OEM keyfob in the Manchester area, he is asking in the 200 range and requires the car to be brought to him for an hour.

Humour
