Hi everyone,

I have a Sony aftermarket HU and i was wondering how other people have managed (if any have) to make the Sony cage support the radio. I have taken out the standard HU but it leaves a massive (almost) double DIN gap in the dash, in which i cannot mount the Sony single DIN cage.

If you could help me fit this in somehow or direct me to somewhere that covers this it would be great because im greatly missing the USB and AUX inputs im used to having haha.

Thanks in advance for any help

You need to buy a headunit adapter specific for the gp. Look on ebay and you will find for sure

i can't find anything that would replace the cage. I already have a fascia and the wiring loom (of which will have to be change to get power from the cigarette lighter) but no way of "suspending" and securing the cage in the gap left by the standard radio

Based on my experience with my Alpine HU, the new case for it clipped into a single DIN hole, which was made by the Fascia adapter. So it clips in via the front if that makes sense?

So did you remove the fiat radio cage and then put the fascia on then put the cage through the fascia?

If so I'll give it a try tonight if I get chance

Hi,

The original facia stays with the factory head unit (it does not separate).
I have a spare silver facia adapter if you need one (what colour is your dash, black or silver?).
If want it I could let it go for £5 + postage.

Richard.

I've already got one, thanks for the offer though its half what I paid dammit but is that what you mean? Like the cage slipping through the aftermarket fascia?

Hi mate,

You just remove your original radio, clip in the new facia, then insert your new radio cage and push the metal tangs around the edge of the new facia (this keeps it secure), then just slide your new HU in.(y)

I hope that makes sense?

Best regards

Richard.

Thanks again

Just wondering if, because I can tell from other peoples problems of wiring up the aftermarket head unit, I should buy one of these:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_786821_langId_-1_categoryId_265875

Do any of you think this would allow me to wire it to the cigarette lighter without have to insert my own wire because I wouldnt know where to begin with the wiring or anything like that like how to connect it. If you'd advise against it could you maybe point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for helping me with this, I'll get this on reserve and pick it up at some point tonight. Just wondering to get to the wires of the cigarette lighter do you just need to pull the gear stick gaiter up? and if so which wire do i "spice" into?
