Hi everyone, newbie here so I'm sorry if I've posted in the wrong place but I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem before.

I've recently brought a 1.4 8v Fiat Grande Punto Dynanic 2006 (is there anywhere I can post that on my profile?) And I've noticed the back window doesn't wash, and I'm pretty sure when I lift the boot lid the screenwash come out of a rubber stopper in the bottom right hand side.

I was wondering if this is a semi popular thing to happen and also how to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance :D

probably a split hose where the cable lool enters the boot from the left hand side top corner as you look into the open boot....
best option would be to replace the hose from the back of the car to the washer jet

also worth checking the hose is still attached to the actual jet within the high level brake light

is the spare wheel well full of water?

also check the left hand light cluster often if the water runs down the loom and into that as well

cant remember the size of the hose but its small very small

a local engineering factors might be able to help or a hose supplier

if you find it in the flexy i'd use the old hose to pull the new hose into the boot to the back of the brake light (see guides section on how to remove rear brake light)

then remove rear trim in car and get your new hose inside the car and joint it somewhere probably easier low down..

you'd also need some loom tape to secure all the cable s in the boot flexi duct to prevent chafing

i'd use something like this (measure the outer size of the hose first) they do them in many sizes

Ours was split in the top left hand corner inside the rubber boot.
A bit of old fish tank airpipe and a couple of hose menders will fix it.
The pipe is buried inside cloth harness tape though, so it's a bit of a pig to get to.

If you don't have hose menders, you can make your own with an old biro insert.
Cut a small length of biro tube.
Heat the ends gently with a small flame until the ends mushroom over.

is the spare wheel well full of water?

I looked this morning and there is no water in the spare wheel area, and as a reply to your other comments there is no water on the left (Passenger Side in the UK) tail light, but i might be looking on the wrong side. Ill post a picture when i got on dinner to show where the water seems to come out of when i open the boot.

As to repairing it if it is a split hose would I have to route the new hose all the way through the car?

jack, sounds like you are having all the issues i had with my GP!

Mine had split in the rubber hose in the top left of the boot, it was noticed by the passengers tail light filling. My local car shop had hose (I believe internal bore is 3mm), and hose joiners. Think i paid about £9 for 2m of hose and 2 joiners, replaced the entire run from top of headliner in boot, to just inside of boot door (basically any part that flexes) with the new hosing. All good so far! Took a few hours, some cuts and alot of swearing, but all good now!

Thanks for the pointers I'll certainly have a look for some rubber host and may I ask why you needed 2 joiners? did you just cut the section that was bad out? Also did you use any sealant on the joiners? To really stick them in or is the fit already tight?

Anyway thanks for the help and sorry about the delay of getting back to you

I replaced an entirely bad section, therefor needed joins at both ends of new hose. They are conference fitting, so just push in with some force. I actually heated the rubber with a lighter to soften the rubber to allow easier fitting

It is routed in the wiring loom; I intercepted it in the roof liner above the boot, before it goes through the chassis and to the rubber hose, then outside the hose at the boot

How did you get to it through the roof lining? Did you take it off? Because that seems a bit extreme for me hahaha

You can get at it by doing the following:

Remove parcel shelf, and remove both boot mounts (2 screws) from here you can see on the left there is a wiring loom; follow this back to the roof lining; this is where the washer tube is. However it goes into the headliner; from the boot, pull down on the headliner; it is a plastic panel with clips! They are however pretty tough, so use a bit of force! From memory there are 3 clips along the boot opening, just putting these 3 out gives you enough room to get to the loom!

Sorry its a bit of an unclear essay; hopefully it will make sense as you do it!

Doesn't seem like it'd be too bad judging from that, I'll order the pipe and connectors soon. Can I ask where you got yours from? I've looked in halfords but can't find anything of any use personally

I got mine from a local Interpart. Went in there today and confirmed what i had bought; Auto hose with a 3mm internal bore, and 3mm straight connectors. If you are having trouble getting a hold of some, let me know and i can pick you some up from my local and send them out to you!

Thanks for double checking and I found some on the internet pretty cheap like £2 for a metre of it which is all I should need right?
