You are far too kind. They should shoot everyone offering the service, and everyone driving a car with the DPF removed. They should also shoot those people who drive old Diesels with plumes of black filth coming out of the pipe.

In other countries these vehicles are pulled over and impounded immediately, but I prefer the shooting option.

If you've ever witnessed a diesel smoke test on MOT, you'll have seen the huge amount of crap they can blow out the back and still pass under the current rules

Its damn scary watching them do a smoke test on your car, if you had seen it you would always make sure your derv is well serviced before it goes for an MOT. Proper hammer the hell out of them.

Considering how tight the rules are currently is amazing how lax the rules are for diesels tbh.. My old van had full stainless exhaust with decat and one little silencer, made a truely epic noise for a diesel and was never an issue come MOT time.

how come cars that are newer than mine don't have a DPF I'm confused by this, do they have some thing else instead?

Anything made after the Euro 5 regs came into force will have to have a DPF in some form or another in order to pass.

In the run-up to that date, many engines in the model range had a combination of Euro 4 and 5 versions depending on the spec, so some did have a DPF, and some didn't. (y)

Why stop there? Why not shoot everyone with a pre Euro 5 car? Or even better anyone with a diesel?
