Hi experts,

I have a problem with my gp 1.4 8v . When engaging the clutch in the first and second gear, the car stutters and is bumping. In the higher gears, the problem is less pronounced and barely noticeable. Also, when releasing the gas pedal (the car decelerates on the engine) you get some heavy “punches” then the car gradually becomes normal.

I think this is due to space in the drive shaft. I have seen that there is a leak in the inner connection of the shaft with the differential. Probably the shaft rubber is leaking, I just doubt about whether this problem can be caused by a leaky axle cover. Could it not be that the shock and stutter the cover was damaged and started leaking.

In this case could it this problem be an defective left front drive shaft. Or could the problem be located at the cardan joint (cross piece). Or is it advisable to replace both pieces or perhaps this isnot the problem, it lies somewhere else.

I have already replaced the following parts in the past: wishbone, stabilizer bar, suspension strut and steering rod. These parts would probably be fine, because this all is brand new. The engine mounts I also checked. This seemed fine, no cracks etc.

Does anyone recognizes this problem, or ever experienced. Or maybe someone sees that it might lie elsewhere. All information is welcome.

Thanks,
Kris
