General air box seal

anyone know where i can get air box seal? just rang up foat and they wanted £12. i think thats a lot just for a rubber seal.

Not unreasonable imo.

Its not 'just a rubber seal' after all ;)

Someone has had to design, manufacture, produce and store it until you've required it.

You think £12 for a part is a lot?
While it's o my rubber it's probably a low volume item produced in small batches which puts the cost up a lot

That's being said is it like a o ring if so get one of them

Rubber seal between air filter box and carb missing

Presume a leak here means air not being sucked through filter and mixture is weak, so is this seal important to replace??

If this seal is missing and air not being sucked through air filter does this mean mixture will be weak (too much air)??

Yes it is very important it stops all kinds of abrasive dust / grit / rubbish going into your engine and wearing it out.

Do you really have a carburetor?

If you don't want to buy a new one try a scrap yard where it will be cheap.

I used to make things when I was more involved with cars. Half the fun for me was coming up with something I did myself. Wether this is possible in this case I have no idea.

Just noticed, this thread goes back a few years....
