Hi all.
I've this week bought a black 2007 mjet sporting with 48,000 miles called Barry.
Barry has cruise control and a black leather interior with armrest. I was keen on cruise so pleased to get this car. The interior condition is excellent, almost mint, and exterior pretty good with a couple of scuffs here and there but no dings and very little stonechipping. The wheels however have a half dozen spots of bubbling, which is a shame. Is this common?

A few questions if I may.

The climate control button doesn't seem to make any discernible difference to how cold the air is. Its chilly outside which maybe has some effect but I would think it would be more noticeable. I did have a mito previously and always felt the same thing about the climate in that actually.

Barry is missing his multijet badge from the front grill. Any idea where I can get a replacement please?

When the wheel is on full right lock at low speed e.g. in a car park there is a very quiet grating noise, almost sounds like a tiny piece of tyre is rubbing, any ideas?

I'm extremely pleased with the drive and was surprised at how much poke it has and the leather looks great. How many sportings have leather and/or cruise as the bloke I bought it from insisted it was unusual but I don't know enough to know if he was exaggerating.

Am also missing the small rubber clip that holds one side of the parcel shelf axle. Does anyone know where I could get another please?

Finally thanks a lot to all those who replied that to my previous messages. This is an excellent forum!

looks a nice car mate, very few GPs seem to have leather and cruise control was an option on the Series 1 cars so it will be fairly uncommon.

The badge and parcel clip can be bought from partsworld, they are a dealer in Chesterfield with a good mail order system/website.

The grinding issue im not sure about, there was a recall on some of the earlier cars for a power steering fault, contact Fiat as they can tell you if your car has been fixed or not.

My car doesnt have dual zone climate but the aircon is quite cold, although if your Mito was the same i wouldnt worry as they are the same car under the skin. The Mito is just a GP with a pig ugly body :D

Thanks for replies :)
I've ordered the missing parcel clip and multijet badge from eBay. Also some new mats, double USB cigarette charger, new wipers. I also noticed that weirdly the seat belt on the drivers side doesn't have a plastic button clip thing to hold up the belt clip, but it does on the passenger side. Also there is no rubber pad to stop the belt clip rubbing on the pillar, but there is on the passenger side. Its almost as if fiat forgot to change it when they made a RHD car :O So have ordered the belt clip thing too.
Annoyed about the alloy bubbling but reading the forum shows it's a common problem.

Edit: oh yeah the dealer I got it from didn't know for sure if it had the cambelt done, as while it has had regular services, the recording of what was done it patchy alas. However the belt that's on it "looks" almost brand new to my untrained eye, and he said it also looked very new. Car needs a scheduled service in 5k so just going to get it checked then. I read someone mention something about a "pump" that should need changing soon too. Water pump? Thanks

Hi,
I'd like to put a front spoiler on my GP, and have seen people mention the Cupra one which looks great after some trimming. I was wondering what the part from partsworld is: http://www.partsworld-uk.com/product/Frt_bumper_spoiler-Grande_and_Evo_51702105

It looks small, and I wondered if this is a standard part that comes on the car normally and this is a replacement.
Thanks.

Mate this is noting, it sits really far back under the front bumper you cant even see it unless your under the car. You could go for a cupra one mate I have it on my GP and really like it. It does take some trimming and bending and most importantly some swearing to get it to fit lol.

Regards
Stephen

Thanks. That's what I'm going to go for.

From the pics the car dosnt have climate control?? Its got manual controls.

Which button do you mean that your pressing?

Hi. I mean air con. The button with icicle. I'm sure the manual calls it climate control and the other option automatic climate control. Anyway am not that fussed about it. :)

Hi,

I would like to lower my car around 30mm and want to keep my original shocks and was considering the eibach pro kit. However I am on an extremely tight budget and would like to spend a lot less if possible. I have seen people* mention the use of Corsa D springs, which is based on the same platform as the GP, as a much cheaper alternative as these are available on ebay for £62, a significant saving. The ever knowledgeable and helpful Sweex has told me this would work as long as it’s the correct spring weight for my Mjet lump, but I’d like to know from someone who has done this about how it worked and the handling etc. I see a lot of posts saying people have done it, but not many specifically from someone first hand I could find. Is there a catch here?

I looked at the part numbers on a couple of websites for the springs for GP and Corsa, and in most cases the part numbers were different (I don’t know if this means the springs are different, or if just labelled differently for manufacturers records) although HPI do a spring that fits both cars, which is encouraging.

Finally, can anyone please give me an idea about the damage/lifespan effect of springs such as these or the pro kit on original oem dampers.* I can’t afford matched dampers so the OEM will have to do, but I don’t really want to knacker them in 6 months (I don’t drive hard).

Thanks a lot
