I have noticed my coolant level has been a little low on checking for the last couple of weeks, checked and found its leaking from around lower front left of the engine but it will be difficult for me to get it to a garage for a while as im on a course at work.

I have taken a photo of the leak but cant see the exact source.

The car had its 4th service a couple of months ago and I had the cambelt and waterpump changed. The garage said the core plug had corroded and was leaking coolant so that was changed as well.

Any suggestions about where the leak is coming from and what is needed to fix it.

are you sure its leaking and not just the filler cap not releasing presure? and residue on the coolant tank?

other than that, how long ago was it since the waterpump/coreplug was changed? if its recent they may not have sealed it up properly?

Its definately nothing to do with the expansion tank, thats the opposite side of the engine bay.

The waterpump and core plug were changed 2 months ago.

I think they are behind the black plastic cover above the visible coolant but im not sure.

I'd be tempted to take the cover off and check for any weaping from the waterpump & coreplug. Guessing your noticing a loss in coolant when you've been checking?

It would be best taking the car to nearest dealership as the coolant pipe washers might be needing changed (common problem) or it could be the metal coolant pipe that runs around the block (a swine to change) so my recommendation is t get the cooling system pressure tested.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but thought it worthwhile incase anyone else has the same issue.

Eventually got the car to the garage last week and it turned out the new waterpump fitted when it was serviced was leaking.

Good news is garage replaced it and changed the coolant for nothing as the parts were still under warranty
