Hi all,

I'm trying to source a replacement door mirror for my car since some lovely fellow decided to try to break one off.

I was looking at Partsworld-UK who seem quite popular (and cheap) but I'm concerend that their "genuine" mirror seems to have a plastic mounting panel/hinge, as opposed to my mirrors' metal parts. (I've attached Partsworld's image and an image from an eBay listing that matches my mirror.)
Can anyone tell me whether Fiat genuinely switched to using plastic in their mirrors, or whether the Partsworld item is unlikely to be genuine?

Many thanks.

I cant answer your question about the mirror but partsworld is the online store of a large dealer chain in Chesterfield, including Fiat and Abarth.

They sell genuine parts and ive had very good service from them, im sure if you give them a ring they should be able to sort it out

Mike,

Thanks for linking to that post. That seems to suggest that the plastic mirror is indeed a genuine part, just a new version of the one I have (had) on my car. (My car has the metal hinge which seems more robust... just didn't stand up to the full weight of a guy pressing down on it!)

It also suggests I might be better off buying a used, metal-hinged mirror off eBay than a plastic-hinged one, no matter how genuine it is!

Middo, thanks for the testimonial - I'm guessing now it is an official part, just not necessarily one I want.

:)
