Have had my Grande Punto since new on an 06 plate .And it successfully passed it's MOT,all I had to do prior to the test was change the A.R.B drop links, which where the originals, and not bad considering the state of our roads ..Contrary to what people think ,personally I think it's badge snobbery ,the car has been really reliable ,apart from tyres servicing an MOT which is all cars require ,it probably costs on average £150 a year on parts ,if that ..Am on 66600 miles and still on original front brake pads ,rears where done due to the pad separating from the metal and causing a squeal, but they where still plenty of meat on them..I just wish the paint work stood up to stone chips as well as the mechanicals last..Car is still on original battery !!!!

hi philo254 my grande punto is 6 years old. On an 07 plate.his name is guido and he has done 34 280 miles so far. he has never let me down so far touch wood.Im also still on my origional battery aswell:) i do agree with the paint work,i wish it was less prone to stone chips aswell. The only major problem ive had is i had to have my auto climate air con wiring replaced as it was working and then not.All ok now.i hope i will get many more trouble free miles out of him.i do agree with you, fiats now days seem to be much more reliable.its good to see a fellow fiat member giving very good feed back on their car.i hope we can hear some more possitive comments on fiats.Mine has passed mot every year so far too.I still have the passion and excitement about my car as when i collected him from the show room.GO FIATS.(y)

Yep, mine will be 7 next year and going strong. Only weak thing I have noticed is suspension (springs, drop links, cv joint, top mounts) but apart from that great! I blame our shocking, shocking roads though. I also have a buckled alloy from a f*cking pothole.

I recently bought my Grande Punto which is a 56 plate, its very smooth, engine is still going strong, gearbox is still going strong, passed its M.O.T with 2 advisories, cracked wing mirror & tire on the verge of needing replacing.

I ruined a suspension arm on a huge rock on a hill but other than that its brilliant!

I'll not praise it yet, don't wanna jynx anything.

My first MOT is next month and I can say nothing but good things about my grandes reliability so i'm not worried in the slightest. I give my car a check over about every 2 weeks and everytime nothing worrying stands out, only that the screenwash runs out damn quickly but still thats not the end of the world

ARB drop links are also knackered (seems to be common on the GPs) but at least they are an easy fix.

I still see many 06 grandes driving about and although they mostly look a little worse for wear they are obviously still going strong (y)

I will knock build quality though. My wheel arch liner fell out the other week, thats pretty poor considering my car is a 58 plate. And the interior plastics are coming unhinged in places too (n)
