I am considering replacing my exhaust cat back, and have read that some people have put straight through pipe inplace off the centre box.... Just wondered how this has worked out for tho's that have done it? I'm also thinking about the back box, some I've seen have fitted the abarth back box and I am curious to know what it's like or if I should just go for universal one? So all thoughts and ideas appreciated :D would love to go stainless just can't afford to :(

ive changed my centre pipe for a straight through 2.5" stainless pipe and put an abarth back box on it, and it sounds amazing, not too loud just a perfect growl, i have video on Facebook to how it sounds but it doesn't do it justice, names 'Alex Hinks' if you want to add to hear it. definitely recommend fitting them!

Look at that, the 3 stooges. I also have an Abarth backbox fitted. Can again compliment the sound of it. Grumbles, burbles pops and bangs a bit too, without sounding chavvy and too loud. Subtle with a bit of noise - just what i wanted mine for. I also have a standard 1.4 8v and it has a nice sound.

Since when did I become one of the 'stooges'. :D

i also think added more members would defeat the object of 'three stooges' :O but thanks for letting me know im a member hehe :p

Well thanks everyone for your advice and info it's help me decide what to do with my exhaust :D just have to track down the back box and fit it in the next two weeks

I agree with the originality however I'm tempted by the lifetime guarantee and possibility off greater performance gains? I was going to request a abarth style rear box and very similar sound... Do you think that it would not be legal? Or off good quality?

I've got a custom stainless cat back on mine, and I chose a similar style tip to the abarth. If you can afford it I'd recommend going the custom route as long as you go somewhere reputable as they can tailor the sound and look to however you want it, and you can choose what diameter pipe and how many silencers you want. Also you will see better gains getting a custom one as long as you go somewhere reputable like I mentioned earlier, but I guess how much power you gain will depend on your engine, I've got a T-Jet and it made a noticeable difference, but in the less powerful engines I doubt you'd notice much difference. :)
