Hi all, was installing temporary induction kit other day and notice a hose that looked questionable.... It's my water feed line to the turbo which has rusted away and I believe leaking  had look around but couldn't seem to find one so I braved it and rang Fiat they can get me one for £54.62 which seems expensive to me.... So can anyone tell me where I could get one cheaper?

I have a few pipes from when I bought my VL36, the seller bundled them in, the turbo had 2.5k miles on it, so I assume the pipes do too. If you can find out the part (and ideally a photo of its shape) I'll see if its one of the ones I have, if so you're welcome to it for the price of a few beers and delivery (and providing when I check my own isn't suffering the same rusting too!)

Here mate

I think that looks similar to one of the ones I have. I'll have to double check in the garage tomorrow. Will let you know then and get some photos of it too, if it is the one I'm thinking of.

Hey, good news and bad I'm afraid, got a photo but I don't think any of them are the right ones.

From your photos and looking at my own I think you need a short vertical pipe, right hand bend then a length of flexi, none of which mine have. But then looking at mine itself too its also showing signs of rust - something to watch out for certainly.

And after I took this even worse news - I heard my garage door latch cable ping and break when I closed it - so now its locked shut and I can't get back in there for a while...(n)

No I agree they appear to be different and the one your describing is defiantly the one I need.... Could this become a common fault on gp's? Something to keep an eye on....

But thanks for looking and trying to help solve my problem I'll getting on from Fiat in the next week or two in exchange for one off my arms

Bad times with that garage, hope you regain entry soon :)

To me it doesn't look like a turbo water feed
My logic is this

Turbo sit at stupidly high figures, it'd simply boil the coolant all the time

Most turbo's are Oil feed, and a really healthy feed of oil - Dont ever skip on oil :)

Anyway, i'd say it looks like more a air cooling water pipe, as it goes to the intercooler/connected to the induction side which makes alot more sense, the air isn't as hot after the turbo - espically if there is an intercooler

Ziggy

It's definitely the water feed, the pipe it's connected too is full off water and when squeezing you hear and see water in the header tank as it passes through the turbo....

i didnt say it wasn't water
Im saying its more likely to Cool the AIR OUT OF THE TURBO

Not cooling the turbo, Turbo's would just boil the coolant and the car would overheat
As far as i know all turbo's run hot and are lubricated and cooled by the Oil only
No water

I definitely needed to top up my coolant after I swapped mine to the abarth... Coolant all over the floor. Some turbos might just be oil cooled and im no expert in them but the tjets definitely are in the coolant circuit.

If you run enough coolant through the turbo then it's not going to boil the coolant.
