Hey everyone one :)

My sporting wont manage its temperature and when underload especially the motorway the needle just shoots straight up. The heater occasionally blows warm air but never hot and most of the time stair luke warm and there is water in the system :S

Has anyone any ideas what this could be water pump or themostat?

P.s the fans are kicking in to

I Guess one way to check to see if the pump is working would be to take a water hose off and see if waters coming through at a decent rate? But are there any tests for the thermostat
?

Thanks mike

If the temp shoots straight up under load to me that definitely sounds like a stuck thermostat. If it was the water pump leak you'd notice coolant disappearing and there would be no water. As an aside, they really only last 4 years or so before they give up the ghost in the GP.

It has been losing water but im not sure if that was due to a tiny nick in the thin pipe going to the top of the expansion tank but the amount coming out was very negligible and ive been checking the water level every day and it was fine today when it shot up.

If It was the pump failing would it lose water ?
