I def get about 3-5mpg if I use Esso 95 as opposed to BP or Asda...
I've stuck with esso since and my mpg hovers between 41 and 45. Occasionally I use BP and get 38!

I'll try a premium at some point when I'm feeling lush

I've not done extensive tests but I feel like my t-jet runs smoother and has slightly improved throttle response on high octane fuel. I may be imagining it though.

My dad has done a few tests of high octane fuel on his Alfa 1.4 multiair turbo 170 (basically the t-jet engine with a fancy head) and found a slight improvement in mpg but not enough to justify the extra cost of the fuel.

1.4 16v Sporting T-Jet

=

Noticeably smoother on Vpower Nitro+

+3-4MPG on Average

AND

1.4 / 1.2 8v Active / Sport

=

Fook all.

End.

Has anyone tried it on a 1.4 starjet or 1.4 multiair. Just it tends to be that more complicated engines get better quality engine management systems with knock sensors and can adjust themselves to take advantage whether or not they have a turbo.

economy

So then does anyone else here have a 1.2 ?

At the minute my MPG is 36.7 is that good for this engine or poor ?

Any response is good !

I have the 1.2 I get 45, I do 50 miles a day 20 minutes on motorway each way.

I get around 40 - 42 mpg on normal days, I don't exactly take it easy either.

What fuel do you use?

I find Texaco's fuel is quite good, very smooth and seems to improve my MPG compared to Tesco/Esso.

so my mpg is not brilliant then, so what could cause that ?

Re: economy

Try another brand fuel and see... Do you use the supermarket stuff?

Also, check your tyre pressures... I've got a 1.4 and getting 36mpg will be pretty poor. I do mainly city driving with the occasional motorway at the weekends

If I got that out of my 1.5 16v I'd be annoyed never mind a 1.2 8v...However if you drive hard on short stop start trips it can knacker economy. Also the little 1.2 has a job on its hands moving a car the size of a gp around. There is a thread on vpower in general here: https://www.fiatforum.com/leisure-lounge/320495-v-power.html

I never thought using it was worth it but switching over improved the mpg by between 3 and 8 mpg on my car. Tbf best thing to do is fill up with a few tanks and track it with something like fuelly so you can do a before and after, it only works out about a fiver a tank to find out.

Also I normally fill up with full tanks, would I be better doing half tanks .

its at 41.5 , i put 30 quid in it and the lights back on after 160 miles :(

30 quid is only about 22 litres now which is only about 5 gallons. 160 divided by 5 is 32mpg which seems bad to me.

Need to do the basic checks tyre pressure, air filter, service inc fuel filter spark plugs etc. And do a tank to tank calculation which is the only way to work it out accurately.
