Ran my T-jet 17 miles after the needle dropped off the bottom of the scale, coughed and spluttered on to the forecourt and stalled 3m short of the pump, pushed it (y)
Managed to fill the tank to the first click, shake the car and turn the car over to prime the fuel lines, then managed to squeeze another litre and and a half in. 46.1 litres of V-Power Nitro £68 well spent ;)

Good effort but still half a litre down. Perhaps its because when it clicks off I lift the nozzle a little higher and keep filling. You can get quite a bit more in the neck that way.

Until it p*sses out the top of the spout, all over your spotless paintwork, stripping the expensive wax off, along with the neatly applied tyre shine all over your clean shoes, which subsiquently make your car smell like high-ocatane goodness ;)

You have to judge it by eye, I fill until I can see it sitting in the neck. That said I have once or twice got it wrong.

I thought it was pointless filling that much anyway, because it all just dribbles out the exhaust...

Out of the exhaust!!!! That's an after-burner.

The days of dribbling excess fuel out on to the road are long gone. Its very bad for the environment. To meet type approval the fuel systems are sealed save for a breather hose which is usually mounted high in the engine bay and has a charcoal filter to stop vapours escaping.

Have never filled a car up ever due to the extra weight with a full tank as much as a extra 25kg.

Its a lot more than 25kg. The specific gravity of petrol is 0.74 so 46.6l weighs 34.5kg and that's with the puntos tiny tank. Filling right up can't be helped though, I often do 300+ mile round trips which is nearly a full tank on a t-jet.

A big diesel (specific gravity approx 0.85) car with a 75l tank will weigh 64kgs more when full.

That was approximately 43 litres. So could have probably got about another 25-30 miles tbh, maybe more.

Looks like I'm running on fumes but not really.

p.s excuse the dust!!!

I am too nervous to let it go too low or put too much in I always only put 30 litres in. I only let it go down to quarter of a tank and then I top up. I did this tonight and it cost me £41.07 = £136.9. Too much of a chicken lol
