Hi Guys,

First time post here. Thought id get more sense out of you guys than a collection of defferent technitians.

My GP Sporting 130 (tuned to 194fwhp in 2011, been running fine since) recently decided to smash its own timing belt tensioner to pieces. So after getting that replaced it wouldnt start properly (have to crack it over anywhere from 2 - 10 times before it would splutter into life) when the engine was warm it would start first time but would still struggle a little. Prior to the belt kit going on it was a bit ropey on starting but would always start first time.

So i've had the EGR valve off, checked and cleaned and that was fien. Then i had the glow plugs replaced and that didnt work so i took it to fiat and they diagnosed it as the Timing belt phase sensor. 2 Sensors later and the problem is still there. Now Fiat are saying i need a new ECU. What i want to know is where the best place for me to pick up an ECU is. best quote i got was £629.00 inc vat from Honda (my work). My issue is I cant get my head around why it wont start properly but once its started it will run fine!

any ideas anyone?

Your timing belt tensioner smashes to pieces.
If that happen while driving I would gues your pistons smashed the valves...
If I'm right the 1.9Mjet is in interferance engine.

By 'smashed to pieces' i meant the tensioner had failed (there was about 2-3 inches of slack on the belt when pulled) and a fragment had fallen into the bottom of the belt cover housing.
