General 1.9 Mjet problem any ideas?

Just wondering if anybody has got any ideas what could be wrong with my multijet gp. Noticed recently that in second and third when slowly accelerating between 2-3k revs the car has a dead spot and sounds like a release (possibly wastegate opening or something) and a loss of power then goes back to normal. It doesn't do this all the time but just randomly hereand there. I have read about the egr problem but there is no constant loss of power and the previous owner fitted a new egr valve so have no idea what this could be. Im gonna blank the egr off temporarily to see if it stops. If not anybody got any suggestions?

my first port of call would be blanking off the egr valve. The previous owner may have had it replaced but that isn't to say its not got clogged up again. MJet GPs are notorious for clogging up EGRs

Mine did something similar a while back, after a service, new fuel filter and diesel injector cleaner it was fine.
