General Grande punto 1.2 active boot leak.......

Ok... where to begin. Its alot but the boot is 100% water tight.

The wiper leak.
After I siliconed the outside ring thinking that was the leak, when I done my next water test I found it made 0% progress at stopping the leak and I was not at all correct about the water coming from the rubber. It was 100% coming through the hole in the rear window for the motor but not from anywhere I could see.
So as you can see from my new photos and alot of trail and error I ended silconing the entire hole up and some of the bottom rear window as it was the only way I could get my finger to make it water tight.

I stopped the water coming in through the motor hole BUT during another water test it was still coming in somewhere else aswel!! The only place now I could think of was the actual rear window seal.
So decided to silcon the rear window seal outside all the way along.
I left the hose gushing over my rear window and sat inside the boot for a good 15 minutes and with 100% success I didnt see a single drop of water.

Now the boot lock was safe from anymore water drops i brought some wd40 contact cleaner from screwfix and with a kitchen sink bristle brush I cleaned up the connections refitted the connection and screwed the lock back in and again another success the boot lock was in full working order again!

The side leaks.
Oringally I thought water was coming in from poor seals around the lights on both sides after silconing them with 0% effectiveness water was still coming in at the same rate. More trial and error i got my kitchen sink bristle brush and decided to remove the yellow sealent over the welding at the top of the boot. That's when I saw some huge cracks in the welding!!! (Again seen in the photos) some more silicon to seal them up on both sides and now the side leaks are sealed too!

I hope this helps anyone in the future from going through the pain, disappointment, time and effort I had to go to as I tried alot of ways I've not even mentioned here to seal those leaks. Never give up

Hi, That factory sealer has dried out and non functional. If you scrape it all off and back along the joint to where it feels firmer, you can reseal with a GOOD sealer / mastic.
I had to do this and it worked a treat. Take your time cleaning / clearing and you will have a GOOD result , NO WATER in your boot tray !

I'm yet to have much rain since I've sealed it but will keep an eye on it and keep it all posted, naturally I'm always squeezed for time and budget

Hi. Did you fix the leak? I put silicone in all possible places, but I think I'm missing something.

Weve not had LOTS of rain lately..

But has it stayed bone dry?

Yes! It has! I check regularly and I have washed the car a few times since then and I've not had a drop. The silicon does not look in too good condition so if you are going to follow my steps then I do suggest some tiger seal. I will be replacing all my silicon with tiger seal in the future when the silicon fails

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, and any others for that matter. I have the same water leak issue as DeanM1 on my 06 GP. I have all the trim stripped out, the head ling loose enough to be able to see the aerial and both rear seat belts removed.
I've sealed everything I still have water dripping in the runs down onto where the seat belts mount. If I put my finger in the aperture so that I can feel up to under the bracket that the gas strut mounts on it is damp.
It takes a while for the water to appear but once it does it is easy to keep the drip going. If I had any hair I'd pull it out. This driving me mad as I can see the water dripping in on the inside, can feel an area where the water drips down but for the life of me can't fathom out how the hell it gets in.
Before I shoot myself can someone offer any help
