So bought a new key fob and tried to transfer the inside to the new key but key part of the old key does not fit the new key fob. Then tried to transfer back to the old key fob but central locking now doesn't work. Car starts...phew.....

Which way should the battery go in? Positive up or down. Such a pain in the ass!!

Thanks

Ken

Coin cell batteries usually go in with the smaller negative terminal down so that a central pickup in the bottom of the battery holder can connect with it.

Agreed but no contact under the cell....one runs along the side of the battery and one on top.....

Can you post pictures please?

I want to do this as well (Spring mechanism of my current one is slack  )

Nothing major but I guess I'm a perfectionist...

Mate,
You really don't want any picture from me......now I have two keys (one old and one new) that have no spring action in them at all and the old key I had doesn't even work the central locking anymore.

Both keys back and working as they should. Thanks to wife, daughter and Youtube. See below for Youtube link.

Main problem was that the OLD metal key part of the old key fob did not fit in the new key fob. There was a subtle difference to the metal piece that meant that it was not transferrable. Hence you would have to get someone to cut the blank metal key to the old one and then transfer all the bits and pieces. Will write it all up if it's not out there already. Central locking now working as well as had put the metal contacts back wrongly!!

Done today on the car......
Two new breather tubes.
New spark plugs - those are bu**ers to get out.
New air filter.
Aux cable fitted to back of stereo for Iphone connection.

Will do oil and filter tomorrow and pollen filter.

good luck with the pollen filter

I've only got two plasters on my hand after the plugs and other bits so I've asked the wife to get some more plasters for the pollen filter.

Now I'm gonna ask this question quietly, almost in a whisper, as I've read the "How to change the oil in a 1.2 8v petrol Grande Punto" guide. The question is.........shh.....

"How much oil does the car take in an oil change?" :D

I have 3 litres of the stuff.....is that enough?

Pretty lucky with less than half a litre left! :p

.........I'm going in for the pollen filter right now.........I maybe sometime........and if I don't come back to the forum please come and visit me in A&E............

Pollen filter done........was a pita.....oil and oil filter doen.

Now driver's side window doesn't want to come back up from about half way!!!

Drivers' side window had come pout of it's runner on the door post nearest the engine. Had to take off internal trim and get to the regulator. Took the three bolts off the regulator so it could move a bit more freely and window edge slotted back into it's runner. Everything back together now and I ain't touching the car for at least a year.....

Done so far.....
Air filter
Breather hoses.
Spark plugs.
Replaced oil.
New oil filter.
Sorted window.
Replaced bonnet catch inside.
Fixed "open hatch" light by cleaning and drying out rear lock.

Needs doing.....
Second key needs to be cut and new transponder programmed.
Check brake pads and disks on front.
Replace coolant and anti-freeze.
