Bit of a weird one, as the title says, my car wont stall. Now although not necessarily a bad thing im wondering if i have a problem.

I will explain more, with my car at standstill, handbrake on. I can bring the clutch up without it stalling, it doesnt rev higher than usual. I can bring the clutch up enough so that the car will inch forward slightly even with the handbrake on, now forgive me if im wrong but shouldnt a car have stalled at this point?

Yes, especially the GP lol. New clutch time maybe? Or could it be a cylinder problem?

Either way you need to get it in to a garage.

I had it in the garage this morning for a service, also asked them to check the clutch as there appeared to be very little biting point. They said no problem on clutch. Since i got the car back there appears to be a lot of bite, quite considerably more which is why i decided to test the above and see how far before stall....a stall which never arrived.

try it with your foot on the brake what happens then?

Same as above, had new brakes fitted today so was wondering if maybe that had anything to do with it, the slight movement while brakes on part

if the engine will continue to run with the handbrake on, then you have one of two problems. The clutch has gone or the handbrake doesn't work.

With your foot on the brake pedal, in gear, with the clutch fully out, the car should stall.
if it doesn't then it's definately clutch related.

No it shouldn't! If your only just bring it up as far as the biting point then of course it is going to slip as there will be very little pressure on the friction faces.

The brakes have nothing to do with it what so ever. The reason if feels like it will stall more easily with the foot brake on is that the handbrake only operates on the rear wheels and the rear suspension some compliance, this allows the car to nudge forward without the rear wheels turning (but the rear suspension will compress slightly). Put the foot brake on and the compliance is irrelevant as the front wheels, an thus the gearbox, can't turn.

OH, I thought you had fully released the clutch not just to the biting point.
Clutch was fully released, past biting point and off pedal completely, Hence the reason i was a little worried. Tried it this morning and it stalled so not sure what the issue was.

Was it a sharp release or gradual? You know you can get good speed going without touching the accelerator at all yeah?

If the clutch was indeed fully released with the car in gear and the hand brake on then yes you have a problem. From your original post it isn't clear whether you just went as far as the biting point or fully released.

FYI it wasn't sarcasm!

Mixture of info in this thread, so was the clutch fully released or at biting point?

Mayb i wasnt clear enough, what i meant was, when bringing the clutch to bit and then a couple of cm's further the car edged forward, then fully released the pedal and no stall while in gear feet off all pedals and handbrake applied
