Hi all,
Had my 2006 Grande Punto 1.4 sporting serviced on friday. Wasn't a fiat dealer though.
All fine except service mileage wasn't reset, still said 7k.
Went back and they said sorry, 5 minute job to sort once car hooked up to computer in workshop.
30 minutes pass and scratching of heads over the reception computer. Probably googling..!!
Now service readout says 18k but its flashing.
Didn't before.
Any ideas what they might have done to cause that..? Not normal to be flashing I presume.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Regards.

Flashing mileage is not always proxi alignment, it can also happen when battery power is low

Yes worth checking that first I guess but given the garage was messing around with a diagnostic tool, and clearly having trouble, I rather suspect they have messed something up.

Thanks for the responses.
To clarify, it is the service indicator which shows in place of mileage when selected.
With engine running and car stationery, cycle through menu selections to Service Indicator and the mileage countdown to next service now says 17900, but is flashing.
Didn't flash before when I selected that option.
I guess as long as it is counting down it is ok but annoying that they seem to have had awful trouble resetting it and now it's doing something it wasn't before ... !
Cheers

I have had this same problem start happening today, i will dis connect the battery terminal tomorrow and post back if it works or not.
I have noticed it twice today. Does anyone know the real reason why it happens? Is it to indicate that a service is due?
My battery seems fine, never struggles to start even on cold mornings?

Cheers for all the input on this and sorry for hi-jacking :)

No you've a different problem, OP's is only mileage countdown for next service flashing, not the ODO.

Yours might work by disconnecting the battery and giving it a charge, or your car might need a Proxy alignment.

Thanks for the quick reply, as stated above. What is proxy alignment and how does it malfunction so that it needs updating? Is it costly for fiat to do?

Just a bit of feedback.
I didnt dis-connect my battery, i have however been turning the key to MAR waiting for the lights to go out on the dash and then starting the engine and the mileage hasnt flashed since.
I know this may not work for everyone but its saved me getting proxy alignment!
