Wondering if anyone knows what sort of trade-in price my GP would fetch?

the specs are:

Red,
'56,
Taxed until Aug,
MOT until Sept,
1.9M-Jet
45,000 Miles,
lowered on coilovers,
Subtle interior modifications like wrapping trim etc.

cheers

Fords of Winsford has a free valuation which tallies with what I got offered at other garages so will give you an idea. Better selling private with your mods anyway as most garages will just send it to the auctions.

Problem you've got is you miss out the first-car-buyers with the coilies as they couldn't get insured. If it's not too expensive to get them off I'd fully recommend it then sell them separately, you should get a lot more for each separately. Without those, I'd say £3000 with no service history, £3500 with.

It all seems very retarded to me to be honest, my girlfriend just traded her 07 plate corsa sxi with 54000 miles on the clock in for 3200.

My GP looks about 1000x better and is a diesel 1.9 and has done less miles, and yet i'm going to be getting less.

Can someone explain?

They're two completly different cars, throw a identicle Toyota Yaris in and you'd have got £1500 over the Corsa ;)

You can't compare an apple against a Banana

The corsa is a more popular car therefore its secondhand value is higher, i'd rather have the GP 1.9 anyday.

Keep the GP and be a bit different from the rest of the herd;)

lol. Yeah, to be honest the car has been a liability since I bought it. Just one problem after another, I had a 1.2 gp b4 this one tho and I never had a single problem with it, beyond its slow and steady wins the race attitude. So im not writing gp's off by any means

2900 seems fair tbh…the dealer would most probably send your car to auction anyway, and depends on what your part exchanging against.

A year ago I was offered £4300 px as I was looking at a Focus RS (dream land that day) so they had more money in the RS to offer me a higher px value. However when I looked at the Type R, my px dropped to 3300…I managed to get them up to 3600, then sold the car privately for a good bit more than that.

The px value will actually stay the same for the garage but to keep the customer happy some of the profit would come out of the car they are selling so they can say giving you more on the px as some people get hung up on the px price whilst others want a discount on the new car price instead. Its swings and roundabouts really as it all comes down to the balance to change figure regardless of how its shown on paper. I used to tell my customers to forget the screen and px prices and we will get the balance figure right for both parties to be happy. Ive seen px cars be given a penny as they were scrappers but on paper it was shown as say £500 to keep the customer happy rather than £499.99 off the new car price. Hope this makes sense.

I have just p/x my GP 1.9 MJET with 44,000 mls against a megane 225 renault sport at the weekend and i got £3000,but it all depends on what kind of car you are going for and how long the seller has had it in stock.

It doesnt matter what type of car it is youre buying or how long in stock. It purely comes down to how much profit they have in their car to be able to give an over allowance on your px. If youre getting £1000 more than px is really worth then thats £1000 that you could have negotiated off the new car price. Its the balance figure thats important. Its hard to explain as people focus on the px part too much.
