I have owned my 'automatic' Grande Punto for a couple of years now and the gearbox has never been right. I took it back to the dealership a couple of times in the first 9 months or so and they looked into it, giving me the car back saying there was nothing wrong and charging me a fortune to run diagnostics on it.
The car used to not be able to find the correct gear and sometimes beep at me saying "gear unavailable" as I am driving along. Sometimes it just didnt want to find a gear when I was starting it either. When this happened, a local garage towed it to the dealership and talked to them on my behalf, and apparently the problem was something to do with a fuse that had blown.
My car has been unable to drive in automatic now for around 6 months and the gearbox makes a clicking noise. I have been advised to take it back to the dealership by the garage that did my MOT but I am scared of taking it back as they are quite rude, unhelpful and make me feel like I am making a fuss out of nothing.
I have not had a good driving history (been in 2 accidents caused by other people) and hence why I only drive an automatic as I am really quite a nervous driver.
Can anybody tell me what it is I need to be saying to the dealer when I take it in, so that I feel more confident that I have some idea of what I am talking about.
On a side point, my heater hasnt really worked since I got the car and I dont know if this has anything to do with the other problems I have as it seems to be the electrics that are the problem.
Sorry to sound so pathetic, I just dont have a clue about cars and they generally terrify me! I have got to the point now where I want to trade in the car for one that makes me feel more confident but I wont be able to do that with it in it's current state.
Thanks in advance.
Nicky
