Hello all... I had a "very good quality" rip speed DVD player in my old car, I wanted to see if it would go in my grande, I took the old one out, did the yellow red switch thing. And it worked great :). I then went to get some elec tape. As i took the terminals apart It sparked the most minute of minute sparks, thought nothing of it and put it together, and then went to test it... Nothing.... I thought it was my wiring so I took it apart and put the original one on to test... Nothing... Oh ****. I checked the fuse... Well what the internet said was the fuse, a 10 amp in glovebox.. What have I done wrong? Any help would be brilliant. Thanks in advance people.

Yeah, neither power up.... So I'm assuming its car related, I checked the earth, that's fine 0.1 ohm. I checked for feeds, got 11.2v on terminal 30 feed. Which I thought was meant to be battery feed. Is there an ecu that controls the head unit?

I had a simular issue not long back. Mine was a fault with the canbus system i had to have a proxy alignment. Bassically a system reset for your cars computer. another tip is to disconnect the battery for an hour or so as this can sometimes have the same effect but sometimes do nothing but worth a try.

Jordan.

I forgot to mention my 12v socket has also stopped working... I was using it as an earth, if i touched the + & - together would that blow something that would stop those things from working... Because the new unit did power on initially.

I only checked the fuse for the stereo... The internet said it was one of the 10A in the glove box fuse holder... I did continuity check with multimeter across the fuse. With the fuse still in its holder.

Well its the same fuse for the Aux outlet, swap it with another, just incase. They can be tricky to check by looking, and continuity check in place wouldn't have been the most accurate either.

SOLVED :) I checked EVERY fuse with multimeter, found 2 15A blown, one in engine bay, and one by glove box. The under bonnet one sorted the 12v, and the glove box one sorted the radio. It was on left hand side 4th one from top, a 15A-er going halfords tomorrow to get some replacements. I checked they sorted the problem with a improvised piece of wire... Thanks for everyone's help :)
