I pulled away out of work the other day and heard a bang. I didn't pull away hard or fast but when i got home (10pm) i had a quick look under the car and the only thing i could find loose was the undertray, one of the bolts have come out?

I jacked the car up today and took then drivers side front wheel off and can't find any problems there.
Is it commom for these to just pop out with a bang?
I am yet to resecure the undertray. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Its a 1.4 T-jet if its any help

A loud bang? I would be surprised if your undertray made that noise.

Id be checking for a snapped spring first, not unknown for the fiat springs to snap – just be careful incase you cut yourself.

I second that. As a cyclist the number of broken coil springs I spot in the gutter is amazing. It isn't just fiats that do it, its all makes.

Just as you suspected it was a spring! The rattling stopped when i went over a bump and the bit of spring that broke came out onto the road! Must be passenger side as i checked the drivers this morning!

Thanks for your replies!

Glad you found the fault, i was going to suggest spring or maybe even drop links. I had a drop link snap off at the ball joint on my old Stilo a few years back.

speed humps are normally the cause.. however with these pot holes around now , the humps could be squeezed out to #2 , :bang:
Charlie

Hardly any speed humps at all in bath, and the pot holes are not too bad either, yet still the springs snap.
